It Feels Good, Loving Somebody, When Somebody Loves You Back :-)

Hey you Guys,

Valentines Day for me was so completely and totally wonderful and special for me!  This is the first Valentines day I am spending up, close and personal with my boyfriend of 2 years (well almost... it's actually 1 year and 7 months but who's counting... lol).

I had classes all day on V-day from 11am until 8pm so I planned to come see him early in the morning and present him with gifts from one of his favorite clothing stores, H&M.  He had been ranting on and on about how he wants to buy colored pants.  I personally despise colored pants on guys.  It seems quite juvenile and teenagery-like.  I took this as an opportunity to buy colors that would be flattering on him and not so wild.  So, I got him two pairs of colored pants (not navy-blue but a brother or sister to it, and a type of baby blue but darker).  In addition, I got him a jeans top because I have been begging him to get one.  I think it's one of those must-have items.

So anyways, he loved them!!

Also in the morning, my boyfriend made wonder breakfast for me: pancakes and bacon.  I love pancakes, especially with lots of butter, syrup, and whip cream.  Yes, I know... eating that is just begging for a Heart attack to happen, but it's sooooo yummy!!!  After breakfast, my boyfriend drove me to school from Pomona all the way to East Los Angeles (for those that are not familiar with Cali cities and traffic, that is freakin far!!!)

Wish I could have this every morning

So, after I left school and got home, I was presented with the most georgeous flowers and box of chocolates I have ever recieved!!! The gifts just keep coming in :-)

He swears he wrote this... lol

My boyfriend is absolutely wonderful.  I was having hair issues for the day, so I was not really feeling that "Hot Damn, I Look Good!" feeling.  Regardless, he made sure to make my head go big with compliments all night long.. (gotta luv him.. lol).  He showed up to my house, presenting me with another gift.  I swear, this dude just keeps giving!!

Smells soooo good!!

:-) I love love notes :-)

We spent our V-day night at this awesome restaurant, Mastro's Steakhouse in Costa Mesa, CA.  As we approached the restaurant to do Valet parking, I swear to you, nothing but Bentley's, Ferrari's, BMW's, Mercedes, etc.  My boyfriend was positive that we would run into one of the Kardashians (I was really hoping we would... lol).  I was so sure we were at the wrong restaurant.  I thought this place might be classy and elegant with mediocre food.  WRONG!!  The food was more awesome than the place... I love food, like it is a hobby of mines to eat so when I say that the Maestro's food was bomb, believe me.  On top of the food being so full of flavor and delicious, they had the food ready quickly and the food came in giantic portions!! As we speak, I am still working on my left overs!!

Steak, lobster mashed potatoes, sweet potato fries :-)

crab cakes!!
more steak!!
Lobster mashed potatoes
Rack of lamb!! Taste just like goat meat :-)
Best cheesecake ever!!! (my favorite dessert)

Valentines day was just wonderful.  The best part of it was just spending the whole day with my best friend :-)

I hope you guys had a good Valentines day also!!!

We Love You WHITNEY HOUSTON

As of today, there are only two celebrities that I truly cried over their death: Michael Jackson and now, Whitney Houston.  I grew up listening to Whitney Houston.  Even when she went through her issues, I always continued to love her and be hopeful that the next song she comes out with will be great.  I was at work when I found out of her passing.  As soon as I get home, I'm probably gonna play my Whitney Houston's Greatest Hits DVD over and over and over and then her movies (The Preachers Wife and Bodyguard) and then Ill listen to all her CD's that I own.  To this day, no one can surpass her talent and I don't think anyone ever will.

Thank God for her music because it's through her limitless hits that she continues to live on.

RIP WHITNEY HOUSTON

My Skin!

Sooooooo...I recently went for my first facial and massage and it was HEAVEN!!! I woke up the morning after my facial and my skin felt softer and healthier and it inspired me to do this here post. Anyways I learned alot about my skin from my facial. I found I was doing absolutely everything wrong with my skin, well except for a few things (bummer). I have oily skin, which makes me prone to breakouts, which then leads to scaring :-(. The Esthetician, Alexis, taught me how to treat my skin, what I was doing wrong, and what should be my next steps. I will share what I was doing wrong now and in another post I will explain my new regime. Hopefully I help others with a similar skin types. This is what my skin looks like. No makeup 0_0!

Mistake 1. I use a scrub everyday. Scrubs "traumatize" (Alexis's words) my skin, which leads to more scaring. I should exfoliate twice a week instead of everyday.

Mistake 2. I use products for acne. To my surprise I found out that I do not have Acne. If I had acne it would be huge and all over. I have oily skin, so I get breakouts. Instead of using products for acne, which is too strong for my skin, I should use oil free products.

Mistake 3. I washed my face with soap. So I have used tura soap (medicated soap, popular in Nigeria) on my face since forever to treat the acne I do not have. Soap is to harsh for the face. I should use a moisturizing cleaner instead. Something oil-free and has benzyl peroxide (not sure need to check if its benzyl peroxide).

Mistake 4. I use Ambi fading cream on my face to treat my scarring. Big mistake. Ambi has a bleaching agent which will affect my melanin production and skin pigment. I should use a natural lighting agent on my dark spots so my skin tone evens out without damaging my skin.

Mistake 5. I should not be treating my scarring until I have controlled my breakouts. As long as I am still getting breakouts, I will continue to get scarring. I should concentrate on oil control and clearing my skin, then I can work on evening out my skin tone.

Mistake 6. My lovely MAC is not good for my skin :-(. MAC makes me more prone to breakouts. MAC allows for more growth of bacteria. Acne is caused by bacteria. Alexis said that I should try a more natural makeup (?????) She suggested MakeUp Forever which you can find at sephora or a mineralized makeup, "bareMinerals is better than MAC but not great". Minerals come from rock, so it is much harder for bacteria to grow. (I have no intention of throwing away my MAC makeup, I will just finish it and explore my options. We want clear skin, but we dont wanna waste money!!!)
Anywhooo...there were some things that I was doing right...yay me!!!! I will continue to...

1. Wash my face morning and night.
2. Wash all of my makeup off.
3. I use milk of magnesia (random) on my face sort of like a primer. What is does is it controls my oil. I simply use a cotton pad and put a layer of milk of magnesia on my face before I apply my makeup. If I am not wearing makeup I just wash my face as usual, moisturize and then apply a layer of milk of magnesia. It works like magic yall!!!!! I found this trick from a makeup artist on youtube and after asking around I decided to try it. Since I have started using it I no longer need to blot oil on my face. I traveled to Nigeria this past December and with the ridiculous heat still no greasy oily skin. I love this stuff. I know it sounds weird but it works.

3. I use aveeno's moisturizing face lotion for oily skin after washing my face. The Spa I went to was Spa Sidney Beauty Lounge in Longbeach. The esthetician was Alexis, Like her on facebook @https://www.facebook.com/AlexisSkincare. She is welcome to answer any and all questions. I am in no way a professional, I am just regurgitating what I learned from her :-)

Happy New Month!! Welcome to FEBRUARY!!

Hello all!!!

Today is February 1st and I am uberly excited for this month.  Can you guess why??? Valentines Day!! Okay, I have to say that I have never looked forward to Valentines day.  During high school, I remember Valentines day being a day that my school was filled with red and pink balloons and girls feeling so lucky to have a guy to call their boyfriend (even if they were clueless about relationships).  I remember Valentine's day giving me the feeling of my stomach turn at all the unnecessary PDA and loveydovey tomfoolery!! Ugh!!

Even after high school, I never seemed to be in a relationship during Valentines day, so I always spent my Valentines day by either going about my normal routine or joining with my other single friends and helping each other forget that we won't be recieving red roses or chocolate dipped strawberries this year (yummy!).  Last year was actually the first and only time I've recieved flowers on Val's day (from my current bf of course).  How he did it all the way from Nigeria, I have no clue!

I've become accustomed of dreading the return of Valentines day once February hits, but this year is different.  I anticipate this Valentines day to be...... EPIC (I know, such a cliche word, but I can't think of a better word..lol)...

I have no clue what I'm doing for Valentines day, but I do know that a certain someone is hopefully planning something perfect (I'm hoping for presents galore and..... lots of chocolated dipped strawberries... yummmmmy!!)

Well anyways,  I'll let you guys know how my V-day goes... Lets hope for the best :-)

Let me end this post with a quote for the month...

"Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage" -Lao Tzu
